CT Department of Banking

The Connecticut Department of Banking is the primary state regulator for state chartered banks and credit unions, securities, and consumer credit.  It's mission is to protect users of financial services from unlawful or improper practices by ensuring that regulated entities and individuals adhere to state banking and securities laws  We accomplish this through regular, thorough, and cost-effective examinations of the entities we supervise.

The Department also engages the public and other stakeholders through a variety of media platforms, educational outreach initiatives, and press communications.  The Department is comprised of four operational divisions and three (3) support divisions to accomplish its mission objectives.  For more specific information about the divisions, please visit the About Us/Publication section of the Department's website to read the Annual Report of the Banking Commissioner (www.ct.gov/dob).
