The Position The City of Riverside Fire Department is accepting applications for the position of Fire Plan Check Engineer to establish an eligibility list in the Prevention Division . THE POSITION This position is within the Development Engineering section of the Engineering Services Division, within the Department of Public Works. This position serves as the subject matter expert related to the subdivision map act and mapping process. This position also manages technical staff responsible for reviewing mapping related applications submitted by developers and surveyors. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS This is a single class position. The Licensed Land Surveyor performs technical survey work and supervises the Mapping Section. Work is technically complex and impacts private and public development activities within the City. Duties include extensive involvement with private developers and other City agencies to ensure compliance and to expedite processing. This classification differs from engineering classes in that it is the sole licensed professional in the survey field and performs both supervisory and oversight work as well as responsible professional technical work.
