The Counseling and Psychological Services team at Sac State is dedicated to promoting the holistic well-being and personal growth of our diverse student population. POSITION DETAILS: Under the supervision of the Director of Counseling, the Staff Psychologist will provide a full range of culturally sensitive clinical and non-clinical services for the students at Sacramento State. As major focus of this position will involve conducting assessments, including ADHD, neurodiversity, and personality assessment as well as providing clinical services including short-term individual and couples counseling, group psychotherapy, crisis intervention, psycho-educational workshops, and case management. In addition to direct clinical services, the psychologist will provide campus outreach, training, and consultation to students, faculty, and staff. Department Summary The History department at San José State University ( https://www.sjsu.edu/history/index.html ) is a vibrant center of learning for nearly 300 undergraduate and graduate History majors, plus hundreds more undergraduate students enrolled in History survey courses that fulfill General Education and American Institutions graduation requirements. The candidate should have experience in, and will be expected to, provide the following services: short term psychotherapy, intake assessments, triage, crisis intervention, leading focused skills-based groups, psychotherapy groups or support groups, participating in a multidisciplinary treatment team, and providing referrals when appropriate to medical, mental health, social services, or other assistance in the community. The candidate provides consultation to faculty, staff and administration, including but not limited to the Black Student Center, engages in mental health promotion and education to a diverse college population, and delivers preventive outreach including psycho-educational programming and evaluation including directed programming with an emphasis on Black Mental Health.
