The Deputy Director of Family and Employment Services is a direct report to the Agency Director. He or she is a member of the Executive team and works collaboratively with three other deputies to deliver integrated and holistic services to our community.

This position requires a strong fiscal background, a public presence, the ability to collaborate in a complex political environment and comprehension of the role that service and support to  internal customers plays in the success of an organization.

Minimum Qualifications

While the following requirements outline the minimum qualification, the department reserves the right to select applicants for further consideration who demonstrate the best qualifications match for the job. Meeting the minimum qualifications does not guarantee an invitation to the interview.

At least four (4) years of responsible program management experience above the journey level in social services,eligibility and grant determination, employment and training, or administrative and staff services work in  areas such as personnel, administrative analysis, accounting, auditing, budgeting, or data processing. Two (2) years of the experience must have been in a full time supervisory capacity;

OR

Two (2) years of experience performing duties comparable to those of the California Interagency Merit System class of Program Manager I. Or, one (1) year performing duties comparable to the California Interagency Merit System class of Program Manager II, will fulfill the experience requirement.

And (for both options)

A graduate degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, or a Master’s degree Social Work or a Master’s degree from a two year counseling program. (Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the   required education on a year-for-year basis).

Annual Salary Range: $99,840—$121,430*

(*Salary is subject to a 5% reduction effective December 2011 through December 2013)
