|Information and Communication Services Director|
|Organization: Chatham County|
Under the direction of the County Manager or designee, plans, directs and supervises the activities of the Information and Communications Services (ICS) and the Administrative Services Departments for Chatham County; provides counsel, information and guidance to the County Manager, Commissioners, elected officials, department heads, officials of other governments and entities about Information Technology, Communications and Records Management issues. Serves on the Criminal Justice Information System Board. Provides Information Technology systems security oversight. Prepares and administers the departmental budgets and budget requests. Oversees the purchase of computer software and hardware, oversees technology and communications projects; identifies emerging telecommunications and computer technologies to fill County needs. Prepares, submits and regularly updates an annual staff work plan. Jointly manages the regional Public Safety Radio System; confers with the City of Savannah and regional County agencies on policy issues; meets with vendor representatives regarding equipment and other issues. Responds to citizens’ questions and comments in a courteous and timely manner. Performs other related duties as required
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a closely related field; supplemented by seven (7) years in information and computer services operations, computer programming, network administration, computers systems design, systems analysis, or software development, including progressively responsible related managerial and/or personnel administration experience; or an equivalent combination of education training and experience. Master’s Degree in a related field preferred. Possess comprehensive knowledge of all pertinent governmental laws and regulations, and County departmental operations, policies and procedures. Possess comprehensive knowledge of telecommunications and computer systems, hardware, products and software, software development, computer and network architecture and computer network administration. Possess comprehensive knowledge of County purchasing processes, budgeting and budget administration, contract administration and negotiation. Possess ability to develop and promote cost effective technological initiatives. Must be able to coordinate department operations with other departments and agencies. Possess ability to provide sound counsel, advise and recommendations to the County Manager, County officials, Commissioners in relation to ICS services and issues. Possess effective analytical, report writing, and oral and written communication skills. Possess a valid Georgia Driver’s License.
