OCSD is currently looking to fill the role of an Engineering Assistant I. |
| Description: |
Under general supervision, the Engineering Assistant I performs a variety of paraprofessional engineering duties to include coordinating the submittal review process which requires the entering, logging, distribution and tracking of submittals; the consolidation of review comments; coordinating the review of change order requests with the resident engineers and cost estimators; logging, distributing, tracking and entering the responses to contractors' requests for information (RFIs); compiling and transmitting requests for proposals; compiling and finalizing construction change orders; scanning and uploading documents to the Engineering Data Management System (EDMS). In addition, this individual will be responsible for RFIs, requests for change, request for proposals, contractors' cost proposals in the construction management software; maintaining project construction files; downloading and filing construction photographs; logging, distributing, scanning and filing incoming and outgoing correspondences and contract documents; processing progress payments; logging and tracking project punch list items; coordinating the finalization of project record drawings; and consolidating final project files for short-term and long-term storage. This individual will provide information and assistance to resident engineers, design engineers, project managers, and supervisors. |
| Requirements: |
The successful candidate will possess an educational level equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade and one year of practical experience of paraprofessional engineering and construction work. Proficiency with other software applications including MS Office for word processing, spreadsheets, and databases; as well as construction management software is highly desired. Experience with Primavera and Contract Manager including writing custom reports and administrator support is preferred. Knowledge of document management systems is also preferred. College level coursework in engineering technology or construction from an accredited college, university, or qualified trade school is preferred. Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid California Class C driver's license is required. |
