Acts as lead worker by delegating work, answering questions, and reviewing completed work of Equipment Operators, Scale Operator and Tractor-Trailer Drivers.
Supervises various routine activities including solid waste disposal, and the implementation of new programs as they pertain to solid waste transfer and disposal functions.
Ensures the completion of work projects and assignments, checking for errors and confirming adherence to specific work-related safety procedures, solid waste codes, and policies.
Evaluates existing transfer station operations and scheduling for efficiency and possible modification.
Maintains various files as required including vehicle fuel and maintenance logs, daily mileage logs, cross-training documentation, daily vehicle condition reports and personnel time cards.
Responds to public complaints received by the department regarding transfer station and disposal operations.
Acts as departmental supervisor and/or performs duties of subordinates in temporary absence of same, assigned to solid waste disposal section.
Manages contracts/agreements with third party hauling contractors.
Writes new Standard Operating Procedures and edits existing Standard Operating Procedures, as required.
Accepts responsibility for training, recommended changes and enforcement of Standard Operating Procedures for the Solid Waste Department, and specifically transfer station procedures. |
