Chief Information Officer

Summary:

The City of Phoenix is seeking a CIO who is a recognized leader and manager with a strong executive presence and who is well versed on industry standard technology applicable to a city government the size and complexity of Phoenix. This individual must also be able to lead organizational change to meet the business and customer service needs of the City of Phoenix. Experience can be drawn from either a government or private sector entity.

The salary range for the CIO position is $125,174 - $197,059, pending City Council approval, with the starting salary negotiable DOQ/E and the match with the desired attributes sought by the City. Benefit package plus reasonable, customary relocation expenses. Residency required within the City within 24 months of date of hire, residency must be maintained.

Description:

The CIO reports to a Deputy City Manager and is a vital member of the City’s management team. The Director is responsible for managing an essential internal service department in the City ofPhoenixwith a current annual operating budget of $37.1 million and with 179 employees.

Requirements:

Minimum qualifications for the position include at least 5 years of experience in the information technology field, including 3 years of management experience directing a large IT operation or program, and a Bachelor’s degree in Business or Public Administration, Computer Science, or a related field. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

The City is placing emphasis on an individual that successfully balances managerial experience and competence with technical skills. Top candidates should have working knowledge of technologies and management experience of the information systems used by the City ofPhoenix(e.g., SAP, PeopleSoft, Utility Billing Systems,Enterprisenetworking, security, etc.).
