| EDUCATION ACCREDITATION: Applicants education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Education credentials obtained out of the US must be evaluated for US equivalency. Evaluation agencies information may be obtained at www.naces.org. |
| ELIGIBILITY: Qualified candidates will be considered for vacancies as they arise, for a period of at least one year. The decision of the Director of Human Resources with respect to acceptable minimum qualifications is final. |
| PHYSICAL EXAMINATION: Eligible candidates must pass a job-related physical examination administered by the City. |
| TESTING FOR DRUGS: Effective October 1, 1994, the Citys pre-employment physical examination for all applicants will include substance abuse testing. Substance abuse testing shall also be required prior to promotion to a sensitive job classification. |
| CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK: Eligible candidates that are under final consideration for appointment to positions identified as positions of trust will be required to authorize the release of and successfully complete a criminal conviction check. |
| SERVICE FEE: City employees who are represented by a union will be required to become union members or to pay a service fee as a condition of continuing employment after completion of a probationary period. |
| PROBATION: All persons, including current City employees, selected from an eligible list resulting from this examination will be on probation for six months. |

CLASS DESCRIPTION:

Licensed Practical Nurse Salary: $36,146 - $41,301 Annually
Licensed Practical Nurse (10 Months) Salary: $30,148 - $34,418 Annually
A Licensed Practical Nurse provides practical nursing care to patients and clients under the direction of a physician or a registered nurse. Employees in this class may work rotating shifts including evenings and weekends. Review the classification specification to obtain additional information about this classification.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

On or before the date of filing the application, each candidate must:
Have current licensure as a practical nurse in the State of Maryland or practical nurse licensure from a Multi-State Licensure Compact participant state;
AND
Have two years of experience as a licensed practical nurse.
