Summary:

The City of Walnut Creek, CA (population 65,000) is a thriving suburban community located 25 miles east of San Francisco. The City is now seeking a Police Chief to oversee the Police Department’s full-time staff of 112 (77 sworn and 35 civilian) and a reserve force of 24 officers. The salary range for the Police Chief position is $139,189- $192,459 annually.

Description:

Walnut Creek desires a Chief who is an effective leader, capable of gaining the trust and respect of members of the Department, City leaders, and the community.

Requirements:

Candidates for this position must possess a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university and ten years of extensive, progressively responsible administrative and supervisory experience, preferably in a municipal police department or other public agency.  A POST Management Certificate, completion of the POST Command College Program, or FBI National Academy is highly desirable, as is a Master’s Degree in Public Administration, Administration of Justice, or a related field.
