| Summary: |
Tacoma Water is seeking an experienced project management professional to lead Tacoma Water technology project development and implementation. This position supervises a workgroup that provides information management services to the organization. |
| Description: |
Primary Responsibilities:
- Ensure that Tacoma Public Utilities information technology project methodology and standards are adhered to and utilized.
- Develop RFP's, select vendors, negotiate contract terms, collaborate with vendor project managers to ensure accurate project planning and resourcing for implementation, prepare and provide status updates, manage project scope, administer project budget.
- Supervise staff that provides Tacoma Water information management services.
- Provide analytical and expert advice and consultation to management and internal departments regarding information management initiatives that impact business processes.
- Assist the organization with embracing technology change and assist management with identifying future technology projects and capital budget needs.
- Assist the business with information technology strategic planning and policy development.
- Provide appropriate updates and reporting through the project life cycle.

QUALIFICATIONS:
|
Desired Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in information technology, public or business administration, or related field and four years of experience in GIS life cycle project management and implementation. LICENSING, CERTIFICATIONS AND OTHER LEGAL REQUIREMENTS: A Washington driver’s license may be required. Project Management Professional is desired. |

Results Orientation & Initiative Effectively directing and integrating all aspects of a project, ensuring that work progresses toward achieving goals and objectives on schedule; collection, evaluation, and interpretation of data for project and program execution; problem solving; developing fact-based recommendations; decision making and policy development; conducting assignments in a professional, independent, and timely manner; remaining current on applicable ordinances, rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Workload Management Effectively organize multiple assignments, sometimes of a complex nature or involving competing priorities and analyzing situations to develop a course of action to produce work products that are accurate, thorough and on time. Communications Effectiveness Effective communication both verbal and in writing including the compilation of reports, presentations and records; and interacting respectfully and sensitively with individuals and groups to develop and maintain productive relationships and achieve results. |
