Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or G.E.D. and six (6) months experience in bookkeeping, accounting, cashiering, or related field; or an equivalent combination of job-related education and experience [substituting each one year of post-secondary education/training for six months of experience]. Spanish language proficiency desired.
Selection Factors: Basic knowledge of: administrative and clerical support functions including the operation of standard office machines and equipment; related laws, codes, rules, and regulations governing related functions of the position; the operations performed and purposes served by the Customer Services Division; computerized accounting practices as required by the position; basic English composition, spelling, and grammar. Basic skill in typing and 10-key adding machine. Ability to: deal with the public in a pleasant, courteous, and calm manner in all circumstances; understand and follow oral and written instructions; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; handle routine mathematical calculations quickly and accurately; work with speed and accuracy when dealing with the public; and develop and maintain effective working relationships with the public, coworkers, and supervisors.
Wage: $10.68 per hour. Payment will be made by direct deposit.
Schedule: These positions will be in 4 hour blocks of time during the evenings, nights, and weekends. Exact schedule to be discussed in the interview.
Screening: Based on meeting the minimum requirements and job-related experience, skills, knowledge, and education. Selection for this position may be based largely upon an oral interview. Criminal background checks are conducted on all City positions. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal.
Physical/Environmental Factors: Must remain seated or standing at a computer or desk for extended periods of time. Exposure to high-stress situations or environments including contact with irate and possibly hostile customers. |
