Responsibilities:

Provides direct support for computer and hardware related functions of the Boone County Sheriff’s Department fleet and mobile field assigned platforms; supports law enforcement mobile software; trains and assists users regarding mobile hardware and software; compiles and writes documentation of fleet research development and subsequent revisions; creates and modifies administrative reports to meet informational needs; analyzes, reviews, and optimizes operations to increase efficiency or to adapt operations to new requirements; programs mobile and portable radios; troubleshoot and repair 12 volt circuits; perform crime analysis by identifying crime trends through statistical and spatial analysis, tabulation, and mapping of crimes, reports, and arrests using ESRI Geographic Information Systems (GIS) mapping software and various law enforcement database applications and systems; works with Information Technology staff in developing programs/applications that assist department personnel in working more efficiently.

Status / Working Hours:
Full Time, Benefitted, Non-Exempt. Primarily 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, Monday – Friday; Adjustments to schedule as needed for special projects. Some minimal overtime may be required to meet deadlines and ensure reliable operation of law enforcement equipment.

Qualifications:

Two year degree and one year experience in one or more of the following: the operation and maintenance of personal computers and peripherals; maintaining Windows Operating Systems; advanced use of MS Office and ESRI products; analyzing and hands-on troubleshooting of electrical problems; the operation and maintenance of electronic / mechanical equipment including 12 volt DC systems; compiling, analyzing and presenting statistical data; or an additional two years experience in one or more of the above mentioned areas in lieu of the two year technical degree.

Must register a keyboarding test with Human Resources or forward a copy from your local Workforce Development center (current within 1 year); must be able to push/pull/lift up to 80 lbs; must be able to use electrical diagnostic equipment, hand tools and power tools while bending, laying, crawling and squatting, etc. to maneuver inside and around patrol cars and around a variety of office and computer equipment; must not have any felony convictions; must not have other criminal convictions within the last 2 years, excluding traffic violations; visual acuity of at least 20/200 correctable to 20/20 in both eyes; must possess a valid Operator’s license at time of application and a valid Missouri Operator’s license at time of appointment; no marijuana use or possession in the past 2 years, and no other illegal drug use or possession in the past 10 years.

Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.

Salary:

$40,352.00 Starting Salary; increased to $42,577.60 after 6 months of continuous employment; increased to $44,824.00 after one-year of continuous employment.
