PRIMARY PURPOSE:
|
Lifeguard $7.78/hr. Lifeguard/WSI $8.18/hr.
Under the supervision of the Recreation Center Supervisor or a higher level lifeguard, and within the City of Sterling’s policies/procedures and quality standards, the Seasonal Lifeguard enforces regulations and provides for the safety of the patrons using the Recreation Center and swimming pool.
WSI: Provides for the safety of the patrons using the Recreation Center; teaches all facets of the American Red Cross Swimming Lesson Programs |

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
|
|
1. Monitors and supervises swimmers to gain compliance with pool and facility safety regulations;
2. Recognizes hazardous situations, minimizes dangers, and prevents accidents or injury;
3. Educates patrons on pool rules and regulations;
4. Advises public of programs at the Center and assists with fitness programs;
5. Monitors locker rooms, observation deck and sun deck.
WSI Lifeguard essential functions:
1. Monitors and supervises swimmers to gain compliance with pool and facility safety regulations;
2. Recognizes hazardous situations, minimizes dangers, and prevents accidents or injury;
3. Educates patrons on and enforces pool rules and regulations;
4. Advises public of all programs at the Center;
5. Conducts and monitors a variety of swimming lessons, including parent/child through Level 6 of the American Red Cross lesson program, Aqua Aerobics and Flexercise;
6. Prepares records and reports;
7. Monitors locker rooms, observation deck and sun deck.

| Requirements: |
|
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
|
|
Working knowledge of lifeguard procedures and techniques and of swimming pool operations; minimum 10th grade enrollment.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of current American Red Cross Lifeguard Training and C.P.R.-P.R. cards.
