Asset Technician

Description:

This full time position is within the Road & Bridge department. 

This position is responsible for the development and administration of various infrastructure asset management programs within the Road and Bridge, Open Space and Engineering Departments’ areas of responsibility.  These responsibilities include, but are not limited to, asset tracking and the management of roads, multi-use paths, bridges, culverts, drainage systems, signage, pavement markings, utilities and right-of-ways.  This position is responsible for the collection of asset data through the use of GPS equipment and the maintenance and storage of the asset data using asset management and/or GIS software.  This position will provide analysis and generation of reports of system data as requested, including preparation of annual road reports, the Five-Year Road Capital Improvements Plan and some road related website content management. This position is also responsible for contract document and specifications preparation on County road and multi-use path construction projects, advertising for bids, helping to conduct pre-bid and pre-construction conferences, construction inspection, material sampling and testing scheduling, change order preparation and project closeout, preparation of final reports, and staff presentations for the Board of County Commissioner public hearings.

Requirements:

A working knowledge of road design standards and practices; proficiency in the operation of GIS software (ESRI ArcMap/ArcView), GPS data collection devices (Trimble GPS units preferred); a thorough knowledge of road maintenance management systems; experience in customizing and maintaining asset management software (preferably CarteGraph); working knowledge of work zone safety devices and occupational hazards and safety precautions. Must have or obtain a valid Colorado Drivers License, an Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering, construction management or other related fields, or 3 to 5 years work experience in public works asset management.
