Assist Party Chief with surveying responsibilities, must be able to set up and operate total stations, transits, levels, E.D.M.'s and theodolites for horizontal and vertical control, topography, cross-sectioning, traverses, monumenting and other engineering/land survey work. Create and maintain field notes. Calculate distance, elevation, angle and area. Prepare accurate sketches to illustrate the survey. Verify profile grades. Locate property corners. Establish right-of-way. May act as Party Chief for temporary assignments or in absence of Party Chief. |
Constantly sees and hears; frequently reads, walks, bends, kneels, reaches, sits, stands, stoops, cleans, requires stamina, uses physical dexterity, twists the body, writes by hand, climbs, carriers, pulls, and pushes objects weighing up to 25 lbs., lifts objects weighing up to 40 lbs.; infrequently holds objects weighing up to 25 lbs., sorts, answers telephone, uses a calculator, crawls, digs, drives, perform data entry, operates a 2-way radio, uses measuring equipment.
Requires graduation from high school or equivalent and a minimum of three (3) years surveying experience including some experience in leading a survey crew.
Works outside in all kinds of weather; may be exposed to traffic hazards while surveying on streets.
Works Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Overtime when necessary.
Must possess a valid Class C driver's license with a good driving record. Other state valid Driver's License equivalent to Texas Class C with a good driving record will be considered. Texas state law requires within 30 days of residency, you must possess a valid Texas driver's license. Applicant selected for hire will be subject to a background investigation and drug/alcohol screen test.
This position is considered essential which requires the incumbent to stay or be called back immediately in the event of a natural disaster.
Considerable knowledge of instruments, equipment, methods, techniques, and tools used for general land/civil surveying; knowledge of basic math and associated formulas.
Skilled in the use and maintenance of survey instruments and equipment; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, contractors and the public; ability to read and interpret blue prints. |
