Director of Fleet Services
Organization: City of Killeen, TX
Summary:
Manages Fleet Services facilities, property, and maintenance operations. Employee ensures all work is in compliance with standards by planning, organizing, and monitoring the activities of the Fleet Services Section.
Description:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Plans and directs fleet services, operations, staffing and equipment to achieve goals.
 
Prepares and administers fleet services operating budget.
 
Assists subordinates in performing duties.
 
Oversees review of requisitions, confers with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability and delivery schedule for service, parts, fuel, vehicles and equipment.
 
Oversees selection of products for purchase by testing, observing or examining items; estimates values according to the market price for all fleet service related items.
 
Prepares and administers the replacement and new fleet purchases for all departments/divisions.
 
Responsible for managing the fleet maintenance operation for all departments/divisions.
 
Responsible for managing the fuel maintenance budget for all departments/divisions.
 
Administer procurement and/or leasing of vehicles and equipment for all departments/divisions.
 
Facilitates, verifies and reviews all written specifications on vehicles and equipment.
 
Oversees monthly reconciliation of fuel and fleet parts inventories and monthly billing for all departments/divisions.
 
Works with external entities to ensure compliance with legislative mandates related to fleet services operation.
 
Oversees the disposal of city vehicles and other fleet related equipment at all City auctions.
 
Oversees the Inspection of newly purchased vehicles and equipment for adherence to the specifications.
 
Assists vehicle accident management and reporting.
 
Oversees the end of the year physical inventory and assists external auditors accordingly.
Requirements:

REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:
High school graduate or GED and
Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in the maintenance, and repair of    automotive equipment relating to fleet services which includes two (2) years of supervisory  experience in fleet operations and repair/maintenance of vehicles; or
Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Prefer an Associate of Applied Science in automotive technology or a closely related field. from a certified trade school.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
 
Employee must have a valid Texas CDL by date of hire.  Automotive and Equipment Training Certification in automobile repair, Texas Motor Vehicle Inspector's License and certification in air-conditioning recovery required by date of hire. May be subject to call-outs or irregular hours.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED
 
Motorized vehicles, power and hand tools, and equipment for vehicle and mechanical system work; mechanic's tools and other tools required for minor repairs and routine maintenance of motorized vehicles, electronic vehicle diagnostic equipment, personal computer with software such as fleet maintenance, calculator, telephone, and safety equipment as required.
