Plans, coordinates, and manages urban and municipal planning projects.  Performs technical planning work involving administration, negotiation, research, analysis and public conveyance of all planning and land use development issues.  Completes plat and plan reviews to ensure conformance with any and all deed restrictions, city ordinances and the Texas Local Government Code.  Serves as a staff liaison to the Planning Commission; Reviews and approves for content all variance, abandonment and dedication requests prior to being presented to the Planning Commission and City Council.  Communicates with developers, engineers, architects and/or City staff concerning proposed developments within the City limits or ETJ of the City.  Provides support to the Director on all annexations and deannexations.  Coordinate public outreach regarding planning activities; ensures compliance with all legal notification requirements.  Communicates regularly with GIS staff to ensure City maps are updated.

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Urban Planning, Public Administration or related field with seven (7) years progressively responsible municipal Planning experience.  A master’s degree may substitute for up to two years of experience.  A minimum three (3) years of required experience must include direct supervision of professional planning staff.  The position will be highly visible in the development community, requiring excellent oral and written communication skills and organizational capabilities.  Preferred:  Experience with GIS.  Bilingual (Spanish/English) desirable.
