Summer Cashier
Organization: City of Pearland
Summary:

Applicant will work 20 - 30 hours per week; hours will range from 8:00 a.m. through 7:30 p.m. on Monday through Sunday.

Job Summary:    Serves patrons of swimming pool through front door admissions and serving concessions. Provides a high level of customer service with a winning attitude; assists in creating positive experiences for the patrons by ensuring a safe, welcoming and fun environment.

Description:

Essential Functions:
Regular and timely attendance at work, as scheduled.

Assists Lifeguards during emergencies by calling EMS and waiting for ambulances to arrive.
Greet customers with a smile and a high level of customer service, providing assistance and information as needed.
Accountable and responsible for proper cash handling.
Maintain accurate daily activity reports.
Operate a small concession area.
Maintain health standards at concession area.
Receive and forward telephone messages.
Assist in maintaining a clean and safe environment.
Picks up rubbish near pool, building, and parking lot.
Assist, as directed, in maintaining pool facilities, grounds and parking lot.
Work days, evenings and weekends as required.
Contributes to team effort by performing other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Education, Experience, and Licenses:
Completion of sophomore year to high school graduate (or above), required.
Prior experience working with money is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; ability to write simple correspondence; ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's; ability to perform these operations using units of U.S. money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions; ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Tools and Equipment Used: Cash register, calculator, concessions equipment, broom, dustpan, brushes, cleaning supplies and other products used for cleaning.
Ability to receive, accurately count and record money and return proper change to patrons with, and without, the use of a cash register.
Ability to total daily receipts and complete reports.
Ability to work days, weekends and evenings.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors and the general public.
Ability to follow oral and written directions.
Knowledge of basic funds accountability and food service.
