Building Plans Examiner

Description:

Under supervision of the Chief Structural Inspector, performs technical work associated with the reviewing of structural plans to assure compliance with the Florida Building Code, occasionally performing structural field inspections, and a variety of other duties associated with enforcement of the Florida Building Code.

Requirements:

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

Graduation from high school; Must meet all the requirements for appointment as a Structural Plans Examiner as specified by the Florida Building Code, Chapter 1, Broward County amendments, 104.8, hold a current certification as a General Contractor from the Florida DBPR or Broward County CEB, certification as a Building Plans Examiner from the Florida BCAIB or the ability to obtain the certification within 60 days; and be able to obtain certification from the Broward County BORA within 60 days.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Possession of a valid Class “E” Florida driver’s license and a good driving history.

If your application is selected for further processing, you will be required to submit a copy of your seven (7) year driving history. Only those applicants who have maintained good driving histories will be selected to continue in the process.
