New England Regional Synagogue Initiative Director - (MW10092)

Summary:

The Regional Synagogue Initiative Director will be responsible for building relationships with clergy and synagogue lay-leaders in targeted congregations in order to educate them about issues affecting Israel, train them to become pro-Israel political activists, and get them involved with AIPAC to strengthen the U.S.-Israel relationship.

Description:
Roles and Responsibilities
·         Work with rabbinic leadership to:
o   Engage regional rabbis in pro-Israel politics
o   Increase pro-Israel political activism among synagogue leadership and congregants
o   Create programming and networking opportunities for rabbis at local, regional and national level
o   Help compile and disseminate printed materials for use in synagogues
·         Cultivate congregational lay-leadership to:
o   Model pro-Israel activism and recruit new activists
o   Organize pro-Israel congregants at the synagogue level
o   Integrate lay-leaders into larger AIPAC community
·         Identify and solicit potential AIPAC donors
·         Meet yearly recruitment and development goals
·         Work with national and regional staff to determine which synagogues to target, develop a work plan for engaging targeted synagogues and oversee the plan’s implementation
·         Represent AIPAC, including public speaking, at synagogue and regional events
·         Other duties as assigned by the National Synagogue Initiative Director or New England Regional Director
Requirements:
Qualifications
·         Bachelor’s degree preferred or commensurate experience
·         Five years' experience in a related field
·         Passion for Israel as well as AIPAC’s mission
·         Development experience
·         Excellent written and oral communication skills
·         Understanding of synagogue and rabbinic communities
·         Ability to work with all streams of Judaism
·         Excellent organizational skills
·         Ability to travel
