A vacancy exists in the Administrative and Technical Services Division of the Baltimore County Police Department.
A list of eligible applicants will be established based on the examination as outlined below.
Current and future vacancies occurring in any Office or Department of Baltimore County General Government may be filled from the list of eligible applicants.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Under general supervision, examines, classifies, and identifies fingerprints and maintains fingerprint records. Performs comprehensive clerical duties in support of the criminal justice system.
- Examines, classifies, compares, and identifies prints by analyzing fingerprint ridge characteristics.
- Searches the fingerprint identification files for matching prints.
- Verifies identification of fingerprints through point-by-point comparison.
- Compares possible matching prints with the fingerprint in question.
- Determines and verifies the identity of fingerprints.
- Establishes and verifies the Henry Classification and National Crime Information Center (NCIC) Classification of fingerprints.
- Prepares fingerprint cards and records.
- Updates information on criminal records and routes trial dispositions to the F.B.I. and Maryland State Police.
- Prepares and processes criminal records.
- Accesses MILES, NCIC, and other networks and databases to research criminal justice information.
- Provides fingerprint identification testimony in court.
Examples of Other Duties Trains other employees in fingerprint identification theory and techniques. Takes known fingerprints. Performs other related duties as required.

Experience taking or rolling fingerprints is not considered qualifying work experience for this position.
Possession of a high school diploma or an appropriate equivalent
at least one year's experience in fingerprint classification (Experience taking or rolling fingerprints is not considered qualifying work experience for this position). Character Requirements All applicants must be of good moral character and emotionally stable, as determined by a comprehensive background investigation and test for drug use.
Proof of Licenses, Certifications and Education Applicants are required to submit proof of licenses, certifications and education beyond high school to meet the required and preferred qualifications of the position. Diplomas or transcripts must show the applicant’s major field of study. Copies and unofficial transcripts are acceptable.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Persons appointed to this classification may work on either a rotating or fixed shift basis, which will include nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
Physical and Environmental Conditions The work of this classification is essentially sedentary but includes the operation of office equipment requiring the use of coordinative and manipulative skills.
Medical Examination and Employment Background Investigation Applicants selected for an appointment to a position in Baltimore County must successfully complete a physical examination and drug screen and an employment background investigation, including, but not limited to a criminal background, education, and fingerprint check.
