Description of Work:

The primary purpose of this position is the supervision and management of a wide range of adult, family and children’s services. This position is requires the provision of leadership, direct involvement in operational matters, and short and long range planning of social work and other related services. Work also involves the ongoing review of programs, quality assurance of services, compliance with standards, and ongoing supervision of unit supervisors and clinical social work program.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Thorough knowledge of methods and principles of casework supervision and training. Must have a thorough knowledge of State, Federal and County guidelines, policies, and procedures relevant to services, as well as a sound knowledge base in laws and appellant decisions relevant to child welfare. Must have knowledge of service functions and tasks specific to all service programs, including adoptions, foster care, intake protective services, family planning, problem pregnancy, health support, Community Alternative Program, personal care, rest home licensure, clinical social work, day care, personal and family counseling, in-home aide services, and all other supportive and preventive services. Must have a well-founded base in social work theory, adult learning theory, child development, mental disorders, psychosocial assessment, systems theories, family dynamics, group dynamics, community organization theory, deviant behaviors, as well as a knowledge base in individual and group therapy, including treatment methods, techniques, and means of influencing change. Must also have a thorough knowledge of planning the programmatical and operational goals within the Agency’s network of services to families and children.

Requirements:

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

A master’s degree from an accredited school of social work and four years of social work or counseling experience, two of which were supervisory; or bachelor’s degree in social work and five years of social work or counseling experience, two of which were supervisory; or bachelor’s degree in a human services field or related curriculum including at least 15 semester hours in courses related to social work or counseling and six years of social work or counseling experience, two of which were supervisory; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
