The Asset Management Analyst will review, design and implement daily and long-term IT asset management processes and procedures that will be used for all software and hardware within the City. You will be part of a team selecting and installing a systems management tool that will be used to improve capabilities dealing with over 6,000 PCs and 400 servers supporting a variety of applications. Implementation will need to consider and integrate with the asset management requirements of the entire lifecycle for hardware and software assets. The initial phase of this assignment will be to develop and implement improved asset management practices through the combination of resources, processes and tools. This will be followed by the development of a model for how this practice can be sustained and form a base for ongoing improvement.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Reporting to the Manager, Budgets, Asset Management and Administrative Services, the Asset Management Analyst will review existing tools and processes to understand current state and compare with best practices; participate in the systems management tool selection with a primary focus on how to integrate with asset management requirements; develop alternatives and recommendations to address gaps which may involve the definition of new or revised roles, responsibilities, policies and procedures around planning, acquisition, tracking & reporting, decommissioning and disposal; conduct and report software licensing reconciliation and audit activities to ensure compliance and validate financial, licensing, maintenance and support contract information; assist in planning and forecasting asset replacement programs and explore opportunities for maximizing use of underutilized IT assets to achieve improved financial and/or operational efficiency.
Post-secondary degree in Computer Science or Business Administration or qualification in a related discipline with a minimum 5 years of experience as a systems analyst, specifically involved in the development or responsibility for IT asset management. Certification, such as Certified Software Management Professional, Certified Hardware Asset Management Professional or Certified IT Asset Manager, is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Solid working knowledge of current trends, standards and best practices in asset management; Familiarity and technical competence with leading asset management and discovery tools; Strong understanding of software licensing models as used by Microsoft, Adobe, SAP, IBM and others; Familiarity with IT asset procurement, deployment, decommissioning and disposal processes;
Demonstrated ability to develop and implement new or changed policies, procedures and processes;
An Enhanced Reliability Check security clearance is a requirement of this position.
