With three community centers, two pools, a golf course, 65 parks, 72,000 public area trees, innovative youth services, numerous special destinations, and over 1,600 recreation classes offered annually – the City of Santa Rosa Recreation & Parks Department is committed to providing the community with a safe, healthy, and exciting place to live, play, and visit.

The Director of Recreation and Parks plans, develops, coordinates, and supervises the provision of a comprehensive recreation program and the construction, maintenance, and acquisitions of all parks, recreation areas, parkways, landscaped areas, and related facilities and buildings. Administrative direction is provided by the City Manager.

The ideal candidate will have a high level of technical expertise complemented by strong interpersonal skills – both vital in order to successfully implement the City’s vision for the needs of the community. A minimum of ten years increasingly responsible administrative experience in recreation and parks program management, required. A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in public administration, recreation administration, or a related field is desired.

Annual salary range is $123,066 to $153,960, plus an excellent benefits package.
