Job Description

Hours: Full Time 37.5 Hours/Week, Monday-Friday Day Hours

Location: 3010 Grand Avenue, Waukegan, IL 60085

The program goals are: reduction of exposure to second hand smoke; prevention of youth initiation; helping tobacco users quit; and assuring that all populations have access to services.

Work assignments are in-depth and of a broad scope requiring a high degree of responsibility, independence of action, and team leadership. Projects for this program include: working with county-wide high school group -REALITY IL; providing coaching to organizations/communities on policy development; providing technical assistance to increase smoke free environments throughout the County; developing/facilitating presentations on tobacco prevention and cessation; creating materials; and coordinating grant required tobacco prevention activities. This position requires building relationships with various community members such as schools, municipalities, worksites, and medical providers. Maintaining appropriate documentation, demonstrating accountability for work through timely submission of data, and assisting in development of annual program goals are also requirements for this position. Local travel required within Lake County. Requires some evening and weekend time. Will participate in staff meetings and assigned training activities, assist in management of grant budget, spreadsheets and databases, and actively participates in program evaluation activities. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requires a Bachelor's degree in a public health related discipline specializing in the field of tobacco control, prevention services, and/or health promotion.
