A Wind Plant Technician performs a variety of semi-skilled tasks in connection with maintenance, repair, operation, inspection, adjustment, calibration, service, overhaul, tests, cleaning, and troubleshooting of mechanical/electrical/hydraulic equipment, instruments, devices and control systems in wind generating plants; maintains accurate equipment and operation logs, service reports, and prepares time reports; assists journey-level craft workers working in shop and field locations performing routine tasks such as removing bolts, nuts, dismantling and assembling machinery and equipment; lifting, carrying, holding and moving parts, tools, and materials; obtain tools, parts and materials.

1. Completion of eight months in the Utility Pre-Craft Trainee training program sponsored by the Department of Water and Power performing preventive maintenance and repair activities on wind turbine generators; or performing hydraulic, electrical, or mechanical work in wind plant maintenance and operations, power plant maintenance and operations, or high voltage transmission, receiving, and distribution operations and maintenance; or
2. One year of full-time paid experience performing preventative maintenance and repair activities on wind turbine generators; or
3. One year of full-time paid hydraulic, electrical, or mechanical experience working in wind plant maintenance and operations, power plant maintenance and operations, or high voltage transmission, receiving, and distribution operations and maintenance; or
4. One year of full-time paid experience with the City of Los Angeles in one of the following classifications: Electrical Craft Helper, Mechanical Helper, or Steam Plant Assistant.
