Assists in various phases of maintenance including shoulders and ditches, clearing rights-of-way, drainage structures, and debris removal. Assists with traffic control operations for work zones including lane closures, flagging traffic, and detours during road repairs to control the flow of traffic to protect workers, general public and equipment. Operates and maintains electric/gas powered tools in various phases of roadway maintenance. Performs manual labor using hand tools, loading materials, digging, raking, cutting and other activities necessary for roadway maintenance. Assists in emergency operations when crew is in an “On Call” status after hours, weekends, and holidays for all road emergencies including inclement weather, snow and ice, or hazardous road conditions and accidents.
A 10th grade education; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations. A valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). (Note): This position requires a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License. However, applicants without a Class A Commercial Driver’s License will be considered if no qualified applicants with a Class A Commercial Driver’s License are available.
Class A Commercial Driver’s License must be attained within six (6 months) of placement in the position.
