METHOD OF SELECTION
The selection will be based on an evaluation by interview of your professional and personal qualifications experience, interpersonal skills, and written skills necessary to satisfactorily perform the duties of an Interview Specialist. The interview will include a written exercise. Applicants will have 30 minutes to write an essay response to a set question; the essay response will be reviewed by the interviewers prior to the interview. Applicants will be notified later of the time and place of the interview.
All Interview Specialist will be required to satisfactorily complete training sessions in:
- PQE rating procedures
- Interviewing techniques
- Structuring job-related questions
- Avoiding and handling inappropriate questions
- Evaluating candidates
- Reviewing City organization, rules, procedures and practices
- Reviewing the background standards established by the Civil Service Commission
Work assignments are on an “as needed” basis. The number of assignments varies widely according to the dictates of the City’s examination schedule. Some months may have a heavy schedule and, as a result, have numerous work assignments, and other months may have no assignments.
