Cloverdale, population 11,032, is a quaint, community-oriented and entrepreneurial city especially attractive to professional and amateur artists, artisans, home gardeners, families, and innovative businesses. Located in the picturesque Alexander Valley wine region of Sonoma County, just off Northern California Highway 101 about 15 miles north of Healdsburg.
The City is currently seeking a City Manager to oversee 39 full time staff and a budget of $17,347,651 million. The ideal candidate is a confident, hands-on leader and a creative, results-oriented individual who cares about making a difference and being proactive in the community. He or she must be: straight forward in dealing with the public; someone who manages using an open door policy fostering an atmosphere of trust; honest, ethical, and trustworthy and have the ability to motivate and empower employees.
The ideal candidate is: a collaborative problem solver who provides the kind of leadership and accountability to ensure that the highest quality services are delivered throughout the City to all residents and businesses; someone who values the input and expertise of the City Council and staff; able to think “outside of the box”; a communicator who will ensure that the Council is kept well informed; an individual with a strong background in city finance, budget, labor relations, State law that impacts City government with knowledge and experience associated with the redevelopment agency dissolution laws. Experience with water issues is desirable.
The ideal candidate will also likely have experience as a City Manager, Assistant City Manager, or a Department Head. A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year university or college in political science, business administration or related field is required. A Master’s degree is preferred. Candidates should have a broad background in municipal government. The salary for the incoming City Manager is dependent upon qualifications. The City also offers an attractive benefits package.
