This position will require the use of engineering drawings, field and office equipment while interpreting field survey data. You will need to communicate effectively with internal and external customers. Knowledge of modern principles and practices of civil engineering as applied to the construction of various highway projects will be needed to take local charge of moderately difficult engineering projects and to obtain adherence to plans and specifications. Mathematical computations and moderately difficult engineering projects will be as needed.
Assistance will be given to design engineers, survey crew, and resident engineers in resolving CAD related issues and CAD services including development of base plan and profile sheets, cross-sections, details, standards, and miscellaneous drawings will be required.
Lake County DOT Microstation CAD system including maintenance of settings, line styles, cells, colortables, software updates, Inroads and Geopak configurations including .XIN, .SMD, & .DDB files and Bentley INROADS may be utilized.
Requires associate’s degree or the equivalent of two years of college or vocational school education with coursework in engineering. Two to twelve years of related experience as an Engineering Technician. Requires possession of a valid Driver’s License, supplemented by a satisfactory driving record.
