Public Works Director
The City of McPherson, KS (Population 13,155) is seeking a Public Works Director. This executive-level position reports directly to the Commissioner of Streets and Utilities and is responsible for the overall direction and management of numerous public works divisions within the City including: wastewater treatment, stormwater, streets, and engineering: This position also oversees the construction and design of city projects and development and adherence to annual budgets for various division/departments under the positions authority.
Project Management is a major responsibility for this position. Some of the typical projects that this position is responsible for designing or reviewing include: subdivision development, street reconstruction or rehabilitation, drainage/ stormwater projects, sidewalk projects, and other related projects.
The Public Works Director will serve as a key member of the Executive Management team and will be a collaborative business partner with other departments. He/she will be capable of bringing new ideas, innovations, and best practices to the organization to further the development robust, efficient, and service-oriented operations.
Qualified candidates should possess a Professional Engineering License in the State of Kansas or have the ability to obtain a Kansas PE within 6 months of hire; 7 + years of increasingly responsible full-time public works project management or civil engineering experience involving city or county public works projects including 5 years of management experience; a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering.
Annualized Pay Range: $63,273-$84,364
