ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Works under the general supervision of the Manager of Construction inspection. Directs and coordinates activities of workers engaged in the inspection of construction work, such as curbs, gutters, sidewalks, streets, sanitary sewers, bridges, etc. to ensure compliance with approved plans and specifications. Oversees personnel providing training, work direction, and evaluation of work performance. Evaluates work demands and schedules workers accordingly. Inspects work sites to evaluate work activity and to ensure compliance with construction plans and specifications. Resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems by consulting with contractors and property owners. Reviews and interprets blueprints and specifications, and explains right-of-way agreements and construction regulations. Makes field decisions regarding quantities, materials, and plan alterations. Investigates citizen complaints, resolves, or reports findings. Reviews daily activity reports and monthly estimates completed by inspectors for completeness and accuracy.
