Responsible for providing care to the clients under the direct supervision of the nurse.
Recognizes the physical aspects of chemical dependency. Provides program support services as assigned by the nurse. Assist the nurse in direct client care. Observes clients during the withdrawal process, taking vital signs, forces fluids and reports any changes to the nurse. Responsible for the supervision of food preparation and serving. Certification will be required within six months of employment. Assists clients with showers, shampoos, shaves, etc., applies other treatments as instructed. Accompanies and supervises the clients during laboratory procedures including x-rays and EKGs.Provides atmosphere of customer service in assuring that clients are treated in a friendly and respectful manner. Ability to demonstrate working knowledge of proper food handling techniques and be a certified food handler. Ability to demonstrate working knowledge of withdrawal symptoms for chemical dependency. Ability to use medical instruments specific to positions requirements (i.e. thermometers, sphygmomanometers, scales, etc.)
Requires a high school diploma or G.E.D. certificate.
None required. One year experience in direct patient care preferred. A recovering individual must have at least one year of demonstrated sobriety.
