The Department of Innovation and Technology delivers innovative and reliable technology solutions and services to advance the objectives of County staff, elected officials, and the community in a cost effective and efficient manner. The Storage Administrator (System Administrator II) position is responsible for the following:
Develops strategic initiatives and coordinates project directions and schedules to maximize benefits and minimize impacts on the customer organizations; provides leadership in planning and implementation of projects for computer operations and enterprise systems administration.
Plans and executes the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of storage and server hardware; defines system and operational policies and procedures. Provides, documents and implements monitoring tools and processes to manage and report on system performance, bottlenecks and utilization.
Administers, plans, implements, operates and optimizes data storage hardware and software for cross-platform Storage Area Networks; installs and configures operating systems, software, storage and networking equipment, including periodic updates and repairs to Storage Area Networks including the fabric infrastructure; and administers VMWare Virtualization and Cloud Computing.
Acts as an Infrastructure Cloud Architect understanding clients business needs to design innovative and practical cloud solutions; maintains on-premise cloud servers that provide IT services for county customers.
Administers and monitors the server infrastructure for immediate problems and resolves any issues that arise; ensures that servers are patched properly and have current anti-virus updates; upgrades server hardware and software as required; maintains Active Directory and maintains storage and server data security; and performs the data backup and recovery processes.
Develops new system and application implementation plans, custom scripts and testing procedures to ensure operational reliability; trains technical staff in the use of developed or acquired software and hardware.
Troubleshoots and leads problem-solving efforts often involving outside vendors and other support personnel. Conducts maintenance and repair.
Associate’s degree in the following field(s) of study: Information Technology or related field and four years work experience in systems design, programming and systems software and support are required.
Bachelor’s degree in the following field(s) of study: Information Technology or related field is preferred.
