This position serves in a support role for internal (departmental) and external (county-wide and regional) health planning, data collection and evaluation efforts.
Promotes data sharing and assures accurate data collection and analysis by providing technical assistance to departmental programs, other organizations and communities. Develops innovative, accurate, timely, and high quality publications, digital datasets, products and services for our customers. Conducts data analyses, interpretations and writes professional reports and monographs under the direction of senior staff. Implements the various assessments and requirements for local health department certification and public health accreditation. Creates and maintains internal databases and writes reports to pull data from them.
Bachelor’s degree in public health, public policy, behavioral, environmental or social sciences, nursing or related field required. At least two years of experience in community/population health assessment or health improvement planning. Proficiency with software products (i.e., Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint,Visio and Access), ArcGIS version 9 or 10 and at least one of the following statistical programs: SPSS, SYSTAT, SAS, PASW Modeler 14. Advanced query and report writing skills.
