The Oversight Committee for the Glynn-Brunswick Joint Public Safety Communications Department (JPSCD) is seeking qualified applicants for the Glynn-Brunswick (GB) 911 Director. Reporting to the JPSCD Oversight Committee, the GB-911 Director is responsible for overseeing all Glynn County and City of Brunswick 911 services, including police, sheriff, fire, and emergency medical services, and to direct radio communications activities, provision 911 dispatching services, and related emergency communications.
Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Telecommunications, or closely related field; supplemented by three (3) years previous experience and/or training that includes progressively responsible management of a multi-agency public safety communications center; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Possession of the following certifications is preferred: G.C.I.C. Terminal Operator certification, Emergency Medical Services Dispatcher certification and CPR/First Aid certification. The successful candidate must obtain the G.C.I.C. Terminal Operator within ninety (90) days of employment and the Emergency Medical Services Dispatcher certification within six (6) months of employment. Possession of a valid driver’s license is required.
Salary is commensurate with experience. Supplemental coverage is available through a flex benefits program. Pension is funded through a defined benefit plan and deferred compensation is offered. Travel expenses and a cell phone allowance are also provided.
