The City of Sanibel is located on a barrier island just off the southwest coast of Florida by Fort Myers. Sanibel Island is 12 miles long and 4 miles wide and world known for its fabulous shelling beaches. Sanibel, with an average temperature of 75 degrees, has a population of around 6,400. Sanibel contains over 26 miles of shared use paths and 17 miles of beaches with 60% of the island protected wildlife preserve.
