The goal of the City of Ketchikan is to provide quality municipal services as efficiently and effectively as possible for both local residents and visitors.

The City of Ketchikan is a home rule municipality operating under the Council-Manager form of government. The City Council is comprised of the Mayor and seven Councilmembers, who are elected at large and on a non-partisan basis. The City Council is responsible for establishing long-term policies of the City, adopting annual operating and capital budgets and the enactment of local laws.
