About Pomona’s Government
Currently, eight boards/commissions exist whereby each member serves in honorary trust to its board/commission and the City. They include the Board of Parking Place Commission VPD, Community Life Commission, Cultural Arts Commission, Historical Preservation Commission, Library Board of Trustees, Parks & Recreation Commission, Planning Commission, and Youth Commission.
Pomona is a full-service City with the following departments: Administration; City Clerk; City Attorney; Community Development; Finance; Human Resources; Library; Parks, Recreation & Community Services; Police; Public Works; and Utility Services. The City contracts for fire protection services with Los Angeles County. In addition to the City Manager, the City Clerk, City Attorney, and City Treasurer are also appointed by the City Council.
