Incorporated in 1913, the City of Enumclaw is managed under the Mayor/Council form of government. The city employs 111 regular employees, including law enforcement, and has a 2018 total operating budget of $29 million. The City of Enumclaw Police Department provides 24-hour law enforcement services and operates with 34 FTEs and a 2018 budget of $4.78 million. The department consists of four groups of personnel: support staff, corrections staff, patrol staff, and communications staff. Commissioned department staff include the Chief of Police, a Captain, 4 Patrol Sergeants, 2 Detectives, and 11 Patrol Officers. The department operates a 25-bed holding facility and a Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) which currently dispatches calls to the Enumclaw Police Department and after hours dispatching for the Mt. Rainier National Park Service. Annually, the department receives approximately 8,000 calls. Reporting to the City Administrator, the Police Chief is responsible for the effective administrative management of resources and personnel of the department, relative to the city’s goals and objectives through the budget process.
