One year of full-time, paid experience employed by the County of Sacramento in the class of Stationary Engineer II. Or : 2. Five years of full-time, paid experience operating, maintaining, repairing, and installing heating, ventilating, air conditioning, refrigeration, power systems, water treatment, fire life safety systems, or water and steam pressure boilers. Note : For Pattern 2, two years of the required experience may be substituted with acceptable proof of education or training in one of the following: a) a certificate or higher in Mechanical-Electrical Technology from Sacramento City College, or other accredited college or career school with comparable curriculum; or b) a certificate of completion from a Federal/State approved Stationary Engineer apprenticeship program. GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS Criminal History and Background Checks: The County may access criminal history information on candidates who have accepted a conditional offer of appointment for this class consistent with the provisions of Board of Supervisors Resolution No. 82-602, Personnel Policies, and applicable federal and state laws. Work for extended periods of time in a bent, stooped, kneeling, or prone position. Bend, squat, reach, and crawl to read gauges, locate leaks, remove debris, etc. Climb and work safely on ladders (extension and A-frame) and step ladders with a total weight that does not exceed the weight capacity of the ladder or the highest rated capacity of the harnesses and lanyards used for fall protection. Have 360 degree range of arm motion, simple/light and firm/strong grasping, reaching overhead, balancing while working overhead, and fine dexterity in both hands. Work and crawl in small spaces and/or limited access areas, including entering and exiting through restricted entrances of 30 inches in diameter. Have sufficient sense of smell, vision, touch, and hearing to observe equipment functions for normal and abnormal occurrences. Electricity generation and greenhouse gas emission management laws and regulations in the State of California including CPUC requirements. Public works construction and maintenance methods and practices and construction materials, designs and specifications. Environmental or civil engineering, land surveying and drafting. Office methods, procedures, software and equipment. Ability to: Instruct personnel in proper work methods and standards. Analyze complex issues and problems. Design and implement practical solutions to a variety of technical problems. Effectively manage and communicate technical data. Move about the assigned program operational area to evaluate operations and condition of machinery and environmental control systems. Safely use tools and power equipment during technical repairs of systems and equipment. Operate a computer using word processing, data management, and business software and other office equipment. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS Possession of a certificate to practice as a Licensed Professional Civil Engineer, Certified Engineering Geologist, or Certified Hydrogeologist issued by the State of California, depending on the assigned work section.
