Definition and Class Characteristics INTERVIEWS FOR SELECTED CANDIDATES WILL BE HELD THE WEEK OF JUNE 15, 2026 Join the highly professional and team-oriented Auditor-Controller's office and direct divisions vital to recording financial transactions that meet government accounting standards to produce accurate financial statements for the County of Nevada. This management-level opportunity utilizes extensive technical knowledge in exercising independent judgment and decision-making. This key role develops and implements division and department goals and furthers County objectives. Other key proficiencies include:
- Planning, organizing, reviewing, and evaluating the work of staff
- Providing for the training and professional development of staff
- Principles of general, fund and government accounting, auditing, and budgeting
- Principles of both internal and external audits
- Applicable county, state and federal guidelines and laws
- Principles of business data processing, particularly related to the processing of accounting information
- Establishing and maintaining internal controls
- Preparing clear, concise, and accurate reports and other written correspondence
- Interpreting, explaining, and applying laws, regulations and policies relating to Auditor-Controller functions
- Analyzing complex problems, evaluating alternatives, and making sound judgments and recommendations
A Managing Accountant-Auditor is an integral part of the Auditor-Controller's team! This position is crafted for individuals who have minimum of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in accounting, business administration, or a related field. Also, three years of professional accounting and/or auditing experience is required with at least one year of supervisory experience directing professional or technical staff.

Education :
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in accounting, business administration, or a related field. Master?s in accounting or related field may substitute for bachelor?s in unrelated field.
AND Experience :
Three years of journey-level or above professional accounting and/or auditing experience, including at least one year involving supervising or directing the work of professional and/or technical staff.
