This position reports to the Transit Supervisor or his/her designee. The Trolley Fuel Washer performs a variety of maintenance tasks for the Transit Division's Trolley Service including moping, sweeping, detailing, and pressure washing. Schedule: Employees in this position must be available to work as scheduled on weekdays, weekends and select holidays (six-to-eight-hour shifts). Shifts are scheduled during the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m. Monday through Sunday. Examples of Duties What you'll do: Fuels, disinfects and washes interior/exterior trolleys and division vehicles. Performs simple mechanical maintenance as needed. Qualifications Any combination of education and experience demonstrating the ability to perform the duties of the position is considered qualifying. A typical combination is as follows: Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of hire. Experience: One (1) year of experience in driving larger vehicles is desirable. Basic knowledge of the use of common hand tools, and previous experience washing and detailing vehicles is also desirable. License/Certificate Requirements: A valid California Driver's license and an acceptable driving record are required. Job Duties and Responsibilities • LAWN CARE - Provide routine care to lawns including planting, seeding and fertilizing. • SWEEP AND CLEAN- Walkways, keep them clear of obstacles-use powered pressure washer as needed-trash pick up, litter and recycling removal. • SNOW AND ICE REMOVAL- from walkways manually and with motorized equipment • EXTERIOR WALL WASHING -- Use of high reach equipment and pressure washers. • Assist with soil preparation, weeding of gardens, shrub pruning and/or removal, planting of flowers and trees, the general care of plants, shrubs and flowers on grounds. • Inspect all plants, trees, shrubs and grass to diagnose and/or prevent damage from insects, disease, weather or nutrient problems. • Determine proper mowing and cultivation techniques needed and repair damaged lawn areas. • Troubleshoot, adjust, repair and maintain irrigation systems • Select proper procedures and applications of chemicals, fertilizer, insecticide, fungicide or herbicide assure healthy vigorous plants, trees, shrubs and lawn. • Operate, repair and maintain all mechanical equipment. Evaluate the need for new equipment and secure estimates when purchase is necessary. • Secure estimates form outside vendors when necessary and monitor and supervise the work. • Direct personnel, as needed assigned to assist in grounds maintenance; including scheduling work assignments and training specific to the task. • Handle complaints and. inquiries. Required Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : High School Diploma and some training in fertilizing, seeding, lawn and plant care.
