The Department of Internal Services is offering a rewarding and challenging promotional opportunity for the position of Information Technology Manager. The Information Technology Manager is responsible for managing operations and staff in an assigned section.
Responsibilities include assisting in the development of department goals, policies, and procedures; developing and monitoring the Information Technology Division and end-user budget requirements and usage; coordinating with county departments for automated information services requirements, user requirement analysis, feasibility studies and cost benefit analysis; RFP/RFI development and evaluation; project management; computer operation and production management; customer support and training management; network/server administration; and supervising subordinate staff.
Note : The eligible list established from this recruitment may be used to fill both extra-help and permanently allocated positions. Individuals selected for extra-help appointment may be transitioned to a permanently allocated position at a later date as authorized by the Fresno County Personnel Rules.
Positions in this classification are in Medical Group I - Light Physical Activity (Personnel Rule 8): This group includes positions which require only light physical effort and may include lifting of small, light objects and some bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, and reaching. Considerable walking or standing may be involved.

Job Requirements

E xperience : Seven (7) years of full-time, paid experience consisting of progressively responsible technical information systems duties and responsibilities. At least two (2) years of the required experience must have been in a lead capacity which included assigning, reviewing and coordinating the work of staff in an information technology facility equivalent to the County of Fresno, Information Technology Division.
License : Possession of a valid Class "C" Driver's License, or equivalent may be required.

SELECTION PROCESS :

  • Oral Examination - An oral examination includes a panel consisting of at least two members within a similar field of expertise as the vacancy. Candidates are asked structured questions and must respond orally to allow the panel to evaluate the specific qualifications of each applicant.
Successful candidates will be placed on an employment list, effective for a minimum of 3 months (may be extended up to an additional 12 months), and certified in final rank order as vacancies occur.
