We are building a world-class DNS product with an autonomous control system that makes real-time data-driven decisions to ensure high levels of availability and performance across our network. We are seeking a technical leader with experience in designing, building and operating distributed systems that are scalable, fault tolerant and easy to manage. You'll be joining a team responsible for critical network services, used by some of the world's most popular companies to power the Internet. Many of our largest customers rely on our work to ensure a performant and delightful experience for their users. You will play a critical role in ensuring the team's continued success in delivering innovative capabilities.What You'll Do: Technical leadership of full lifecycle projects, driving project progress and collaborating with stakeholdersCoordinate and communicate with the team members and across other technical and cross functional teamsPrioritize scalability, security, performance and reliability in the design of the applications you supportWrite code that is performant, maintainable, clear, and concise and contribute to code reviews, improving the codebase and other team processesMentor and support other engineers, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing, innovation, and collaboration within the teamParticipate in on-call rotation as neededWhat We're Looking For: At least 7+ years of experience designing and developing software components on Unix/Linux platforms5+ years of experience building and operating distributed networking/cloud systems at scaleTrack record of writing resilient and maintainable Rust, C, C++ and/or Go codeStrong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical ideas across multi-functional teamsA passion for learning, and sharing what you've learned with othersWe'll be super impressed if you have experience in any of these: Protocol fluency and hands‑on experience developing and operating DNS serversExperience with major cloud infrastructure providers such as AWS, GCP and/or AzureExperience with infrastructure as code systems like terraform and KubernetesFamiliarity with monitoring solutions like Prometheus and GrafanaExperience with Machine Learning & Analytical toolsWork Hours: This position will require you to be available during core business hours and occasional nights and weekends as required for on‑call support.Work Location(s) & Travel Requirements: This position is open to the following preferred office locations:San Francisco, CANew York, NYDenver, COFastly currently embraces a largely hybrid model for most roles which allows employees flexibility to split their time between the office and home.There is a strong preference for Hybrid near a local office. However, we may be willing to consider remote candidates within the US, Canada, and the UK.This position may require travel as required by your role or requested by your manager.Salary: The estimated salary range for this position when hired in the US is $211,370 to $253,644.Starting salary may vary based on permissible, non‑discriminatory factors such as experience, skills, qualifications, and location.This role may be eligible to participate in Fastly's equity and discretionary bonus programs.Benefits: We care about you.
