This may include, but is not limited to: cartography, data analytics, spatial analysis, business process improvements, large format scanning, filing, word processing, labeling, organizing regular and oversize documents, upgrading permitting processes and information, helping with platting cases, coordination with other agencies, project inspections, requests for professional services (soils, survey) and administration of contracts. The position may also entail becoming familiar with construction design as well as other aspects of the construction process. Positions allow work under the mentorship of seasoned engineers. The position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, familiarity with word processing programs and spreadsheets, a good driving record, strong people skills, and analytical skills.QualificationsHigh school diploma, GED, or equivalent, and enrollment in year 3 or 4 of a four-year degree program at an accredited college or university.OR high school diploma, GED or equivalent, and enrollment in a two-year certified vocational/technical program or apprenticeship program, plus one year of experience.Satisfactory background check including criminal, education, and employment history at time of hire.Valid state of Alaska Driver's License and satisfactory driving record.Other RequirementsAll required certifications and/or licenses must remain current for the duration of employment.Military Service Interview PreferenceVeterans who wish to be considered for interview preference must attach to the application a copy of their DD Form 214, DD Form 256, NGB Form 22, or a letter from the US Department of Veterans Affairs, proving an honorable or general discharge. Individuals currently serving in the National Guard or organized military reserves must attach proof of current service.
