Job SummaryAssists in implementation of the hospital's safety and security programs under limited supervision, maintaining safety and security of associates, visitors, patients, buildings, grounds, and equipment. Oversees enforcement of parking regulations on hospital grounds and other Carroll Hospital Center facilities. Provides assistance in handling combative and/or unruly patients or visitors, intervening with physically aggressive individuals using the least restrictive measures and force only when absolutely necessary. Performs shift duties based on circumstances, scheduling, and staffing levels. Conducts foot patrols of both interior and exterior hospital facilities, motorized patrol of campus, and provides escorts and vehicle assistance. Required to perform security duties during Fireworks Detail on Independence Day or suitable rain date, and other special details. Able to act as Lead Security Officer on weekends and holidays. Considers age-related factors when communicating with patients of all life stages and when implementing emergency procedures.RequirementsPreferred: High School Diploma; must possess the knowledge, skills, physical ability, and mental capacity to recognize and abate fire, safety, and security discrepancies normally required through a high school diploma or equivalent.Minimum of three years of law enforcement, corrections, security, or EMS experience, or one year of experience as an IAHSS certified officer (Basic level). Required.CPR – AHA Healthcare Provider.IAHSS Basic certification preferred.Specific RequirementsRespond to incidents of an emergent nature requiring timely response (e.g., unruly patient, visitor, or staff). Possess strong interpersonal skills, both written and oral, to effectively interact with patients, visitors, and staff.
