Fire Protection Alarm Technician

Needs include fire alarms, sprinklers, extinguishers, etc. Knowledge of NFPA 72 and NFPA 92 standards and procedures are required. The Fire Protection Technician will work as a part of fire life and safety team on a larger Facility Maintenance team. Abilities to complete work on time, work as part of a team, communicate with manager, and follow‑up with customer are critical.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesPerform service, testing, inspections, troubleshooting and installations on facility fire safety systems with a focus or expertise on fire extinguishersTest and inspect facility fire safety systems as part of preventive maintenance programAssist in testing, maintaining, and performing light repairs on the fire protection systemLearn the fire protection control system to provide service calls as neededComplete all work orders and reports thoroughly and on timeInteract with customers in a professional manner; follow‑up communication with customer is criticalPerform/participate in “after‑hours” emergency call rotationOther duties as assignedQualificationsHigh school diploma or GED required, vocational or industry trade school is a plusMust have NICET Fire Alarm Systems certification Level IIKnowledge of NFPA 72, NFPA 92, NFPA 25, NFPA 20, NFPA 72, and NFPA 291Backflow certification preferredMust be 21 years of age or olderMust be able to lift a minimum of 75lbs on a regular basisBasic mechanical skills are requiredValid Driver's License requiredAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organizationTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
