    Job Title: Senior Marine Instrumentation SpecialistLocation: College Station, TexasJob Type: StaffJob Description Texas A&M's Geochemical and Environmental Research Group (GERG) seeks a Senior Marine Instrumentation Specialist to maintain, operate, calibrate, and repair electronic and electromechanical scientific and laboratory oceanographic equipment. The role supports research cruises and may lead cruises related to equipment servicing and research operations. The specialist designs, modifies, and fabricates new equipment as needed and coordinates with logistical personnel to support project needs.Responsibilities Maintain, operate, calibrate, repair, and troubleshoot electronic and electromechanical oceanographic and laboratory equipment at the GERG facility and during field operations, including monitoring and downloading data.Assist with the installation, integration, requisition, and vendor coordination of new, third‑party, and leg‑specific scientific equipment and spares.Support project management and senior scientific leadership by preparing equipment documentation and operations manuals, maintaining accurate inventory records, and assisting with disposal or surplus of outdated or non‑usable equipment.Participate in oceanographic research fieldwork at sea and provide guidance to assigned staff.Qualifications Bachelor's degree or any equivalent combination of training and experience.Five years of related experience.Ability to lift, move, push, and/or pull moderate weighted objects.Ability to work outdoors exposed to various weather conditions, potential allergens, elevated noise levels, and heat.Ability to operate industrial equipment (i.e., forklift, trucks, trailers, small vessels).Experience with printed circuit board assembly and inspection.Experience using a multimeter for circuit troubleshooting or debugging printed circuit boards.Knowledge of operation and basic practices of oceanographic equipment, instrumentation, and sensors.Understanding of principles of environmental field work.Knowledge of standard laboratory and industrial safety procedures.Fundamental understanding of electronics, including identifying components (resistors, capacitors, transistors).Familiarity with interpreting, reading, and troubleshooting from schematics (analog and digital circuits).Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.Evidence of effective oral and written communication skills.Salary and Funding Salary will be commensurate based on the selected candidate's education and experience.
